Introduction and Unboxing
Google as usual is very confident in introducing their new phones coming up with stock android. Google produces excellent performance phones with all the features that a user needs. Google’s pixel 3a was a great phone but its budget was very high as compared to its specifications, so they introduced pixel 4a which doubled the performance and storage of phone and also lowering the budget. Today we are going to review Google’s pixel 4a and hope so it will be a great phone of its price range.
The simple white colored box printed Google’s logo with phone on the front looks beautiful. Inside the box comes with a limited number of accessories including quick charge adapter, USB type-C to C cable for fast and quick charging. In addition a quick start guide, safety information card and a SIM card eject tool are provided. Also there is a Type-C to Type-A USB OTG in the box for transferring data to other phones and PC’s.
Unfortunately there are no hands free or ear buds in the box as Google discontinued these type of accessories to provide with their phones so you have to buy it externally.
Performance and UI
Google Pixel 4a comes with stock android version 10 as usual. Google also offered stock android in its recent phones. The main advantage of stock android is that you get high quality security and the system runs very smooth for a very long time. Android 11 will also be released in Pixel 4a within a month or so.
The phones performance seems to be great while analyzing its processor and chipset. It comes with a processor of snapdragon 730G of 8nm. While the CPU is octa-core which ensures high and smoother performance. The GPU provided in Pixel 4a is of Adreno 618. Coming towards the memory we see that there is no card slot provided but the internal storage of 128GB is quite enough for a user. Also there is advantage of it that phone runs smooth and there is no risk of attacking viruses in phone. In addition to that Pixel 4a combines a 6GB of RAM quite perfect for gaming.
Design and Display
The design of Pixel 4a is quite simple at both sides. At the front is a punch-hole camera with infinity display of 5.81 inches screen size. At the back, the panel is fully made of matte including finger-print sensor which matches to the contrast of the rest of back panel. At the top right is camera bump. At the bottom is a type-C connector, speaker and a mic while headphone jack is on the top of the phone.
The front panel is protected with gorilla coring glass 3. Overall it is a well-built phone and will not crack or bend under light pressure, so that’s a good point of it.
Main Camera is a 12.2 mega pixels single camera with all the features enclosed in it. The single camera contains depth-sensor, wide angle camera and dual pixel PDAF technology. There is an LED flash present at the back for taking photos at night. The rear camera can record up to 4K video at 30 fps or up to 1080p at 30, 60 or 120 fps.
At the front is a single 8 mega pixels camera provided as punch-hole camera. This 8 mega pixels camera is richer in quality as compared to other phone’s 8 mega pixel front cameras. The camera can capture clearer selfies with auto-HDR feature. It can record up to 1080p video at 30fps.
Battery and Charging
The phone comes with an enclosed non-removable Li-Po battery of 4130mAh. We notice that this capacity is much higher than that of recent phones released by Google in recent years. So we can say that the company is also considering the battery life and capacity in their phones and improving it day by day.
On the other hand the phone has a feature of 18W fast charging which means that you can get a phone fully charged within an hour. That’s great feature when you are in a hurry or getting late from office. There is a USB type-C port provided at the bottom of the phone which ensures its fast charging feature. It also protects the phone from over-charging often when you forget to remove phone from charging before sleeping at night or going outside for a walk.
